Master Yuan Kay Shan, Wingchun grandmaster, was born in 1887 that was still under Ching Dynasty ruling.
Master Yuan was living in Fushan and his father was the rich businessman doing dyeing industry.
Master Yuan was the fifth child in his family. He was a naughty boy and addicted to martial arts. Then his father invited Wingchun the fourth generation master, Guo Bao Quan (郭保全)
to teach Master Yuan and his brother, Yuan Ji Yun Wingchun. (Yuan Ji Yun then taught Yao Cai 姚才 who later got invited to Vietnam to teach Wingchun. He's the Wingchun ancestor in Vietnam and nearby countries.)
Several years later, another Wingchun the fourth generation master, Feng Shao Qing (溤少青) visited Fushan. Master Yuan then learned Wingchun from him as well until Master Feng Shao Qing was dead.
Master Yuan had practised Wingchun several decades. With his two Wingchun master's strict teaching, his skill and technique had been very profound.
His sticky hands and the way of intercepting force was impressive and profound.
Master Yuan, Master Yip Man and Master Yao Cai was called "Wingchun 3 Men". Master Yuan was one of the most important grandmaster in Wingchun.
His students are everywhere not only in Fushan and Guangzhou, but also in overseas. His most famous student is grandmaster, Sum Nung.
Master Yuan was dead in Guangzhou in the age of 69.
